LOVE IN THE TIME OF MALARIA

Ebony woman
You have spoken Your secrets to me
Of love; its mysteries
Resembling the stillness
in the depths of the sea

Fickle, much the love I see now is
Talk of eyes and being forever…
 but changes in the heart
Much like intellectual, aesthetic
Pornography!

Ebony Woman
I crave the secret of your constancy
You have taught me love is hard work
Commitment – not lovers with roses
running between trees

Therein is the depth of your poetry !

Ebony woman
I  have seen the strength of your legs
And the strength of your back
As you walked miles with a -for a child
Fighting of pangs of hunger as they attack

And as a lover
You have sang sweet songs
That have remained constant in their melody
For true love is hard work – beautiful - strong
Not lovers expressing their eyes while changing their hearts-
You see

Therein is the depth of your poetry !
